What is a discovery flight?
A discovery flight is your first introduction into flying. You’ll meet with me, a certified flight instructor, get a short preflight briefing, and fly in an airplane for a hands-on lesson designed to show you what flying is really like.
Who is it for?
A discovery flight is a great fit if you:
- Have always wondered what it feels like to be in the pilot’s seat
- Want to explore flying without jumping into a full training program
- Are considering a pilot career or a return to flying
- Want a meaningful new challenge, hobby, or travel skill in this season of life
It’s especially helpful for people who are curious but still unsure whether flight training fits their goals, pace, or lifestyle.
What should I expect?
1. Before the flight
We’ll start on the ground with an introduction to the airplane, the plan for the lesson, and a few basic safety items. You’ll have time to ask questions, get comfortable, and understand what the different flight controls do before takeoff.
2. During the flight
Once airborne, I’ll will guide you through the experience step by step. In many discovery flights, you’ll have the opportunity to hold the controls and practice simple maneuvers like turns, climbs, and descents while under instructor supervision.
3. After the flight
When you land, we’ll talk about how the lesson felt, answer your questions, and explain what the next step would look like if you decide to continue. The goal is clarity, not pressure.
What you'll learn
Your discovery flight introduces you to the basics of how an airplane flies and how a lesson is structured. You’ll begin to understand the cockpit, flight controls, the feel of communicating and thinking like a pilot.
